"If I could just get your attention,"

It's a long road to no-where
When a fool can't stop to listen.
It's a long road to no-where
If there's no-one there to hear.
Don't care what you're saying
Cause there is no rhyme nor reason
And the only thing that drives you
Is the salty taste of fear.

And I guess it doesn't matter
If your bridges lie in ruins.
I guess it doesn't matter
If there's no-one round to tell.
Life's just like a ghost-town
With the shops all closed for business
And money ain't no comfort
When you're on the road to Hell.

Now you can't hide those eyes from me.
Seeing all those things that eyes were never meant to see.
And you can't hide away your pain.
And if I could just get your attention,
I'd take it all away and you would never cry again.

There's thorns on every rose
And rainbows only happen raining.
Every-one knows love hurts
When a heart's as cold as ice.
Who cares when the wind blows?
When it opens up the curtains
That you drew across for shelter
From the sorrow in those eyes.

I guess it wouldn't matter
If there was some-one who would share it
But it always seems to be
That no-one ever gives a damn.
And I guess it doesn't help much
When all the help that's out there
Is from people deep as tea-spoons
Who will never understand

Now you can't hide those eyes from me.
Seeing all those things that eyes were never meant to see.
And you can't hide away your pain.
If I could just get your attention,
I'd take it all away and you would never cry again.

So when you're done with fighting
All those things you cannot alter
And you've travelled round the world
To run away from all those tears,
And when you're finished screaming
About all the ones who hurt you,
Maybe then you'll turn around
And find that I will still be here.
