I don’t quite know what happened to me.
I was quite alone.
Happy in my solitude,
Very much at home.
I was hardened to it all,
I’ve been that way too many times.
I’m not sentimental now,
I know the rules,
I read the signs.
You came along expecting me
To take you in,
Or make a fuss.
You must have known
Just where I’d been.
I explained it all to you.
I looked into the abyss of your love
And just fell in!
