"Daisies"

I love the little daisies,
And the roses too,..
But you never think of daisies
As you tread them under shoe.
So delicately painted
So beautiful in bloom
But you treat the daisy
As a weed
And bruise it with a broom

PB June 1959

This is the one of my earliest poems, at least the only one still surviving on paper to this day.
I was born december 1953,...
so I was only five and a half at the time. (The half was important then!) I can still remember why I wrote it too so I guess it has some significance.
